Brief Product History

Radford's earliest Hi-Fi amplifiers began to gain popularity in the early 1960s, largely due to their enthusiastic promotion by exclusive retailers. Due to the ultra-high specification and build quality of the transformers (wound in the Radford factory) these early models offered high end performance with a price tag to match.

The leaflet below gives details of the Mk II version of Radford's first hi-fi product, the MA15. The design of this amplifier was fully detailed in the June, July and August issues of Hi-Fi News in 1962. Intrepid readers could fashion their own 'kit' from the construction details given, but Arthur Radford was canny enough to realise the promotional value of the full 'performance' description that ran through this article series!

The MA15 is now a favourite 'classic' design amongst Radford enthusiasts, whilst this leaflet also shows a stereo version, the STA15, which heralded the design of what was to be the all-time Radford best seller - the STA25.
